Review: Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

Yes! Yes it does smell like chocolate and that is amazing in of itself. This palette is a great versatile palette that can be used everyday for subtle day looks and dramatic night looks. I picked up this palette a few months ago in Ulta. I was deciding between the Lorac Pro Palette and this Too Faced palette and I chose the Too Faced palette simply because it had a good amount of warm and cool browns that are great for transition and crease colors and swatched beautifully. I also liked the highlight colors in this palette more and felt they came across better looking on my skintone. The shadows are creamy and very pigmented, the light pink can be a bit powdery but nothing crazy. It has the perfect blend of mattes and shimmers and two great brow highlights.

This palette has quickly become a staple in my makeup routine. With it's bronze tones and deep plums/purples, this palette will be great for fall and winter.

Below are photos and swatches.

My Fav Lashes

LASHES.... I can't leave the house without a pair of lashes on. They open up my eyes and help balance my bold brows. I've been wearing lashes since my senior year of college; I started off wearing individual lashes and progressed to strip lashes. For first time lash wearers it definitely takes practice and patience but the results are worth it. When I began wearing lashes I bought the brand Ardell and once I got the hang of them I found a website www.loveyelashes.com where you can by tons of lashes for low prices and went crazy buying every style from Brands Cremeshop, Red Cherry, Miss Adoro, and, Butterfly. Unfortunately I haven't worn many of those lashes because either they were to dramatic or not complimentary to my eye shape. Since then I have found my staple favorites that I continue to repurchase and can't get enough off. My favorite brands lately are Ardell, MAC and House of Lashes, these can range from $3.99 to $14.00.

For any lashes you buy make sure you tailor them to your eye length by holding them up to your eye and cutting off any excess (preferably on the outer corner). Then take a lash adhesive (I use Duo Lash glue, but Revlon makes one as well as House of Lashes) and apply a thin layer on the band of strip lashes, let dry for 15 to 30 seconds until the glue gets tacky and use tweezers to place in the center of your lash line, let it sit there for a few more seconds then place down the inner and outer corners and let it finish drying.

Lashes can be worn 5-15 times depending on the quality. To get the glue off my lashes, I gently pull of the glue from the lash band with my fingers or tweezers and to get mascara off, I use a little alcohol on a cotton swab and rub over the lashes until they clean and back to new.

Favorite Highlighters

Who doesn't love a highlight? Over the years I have become more and more obsessed with highlighters and the beautiful glow they give me. My collection seems to keep growing because a new company is always coming out with something new. They are the perfect finishing touches to a makeup look besides setting spray. I apply highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and on my cupid's bow. It give you a lovely healthy glow. For those with oily skin, a powder highlighter on top of your matte foundation is the perfect way to get a dewy look without becoming or looking oily. If you have large pores on the apples of your cheeks, place the highlighter on the back of your cheekbones to not accentuate the pores. When looking for a highlighter choose one with a silver, champagne or gold tone if you have a fair/light skintone and if you have olive/tan/dark skintone choose one with champagne gold, peachy, rose gold, or bronze tone.

Here are some of my favorite Highlighters, some are permanent and some are limited edition (Sorry!)
